La aplicación real de los últimos y revolucionarios conocimientos científicos en la práctica clínica debe ser comprendida como una nueva forma de investigación a la que se ha denominado Traslacional. Su objetivo es trasladar el descubrimiento desde el laboratorio a la clínica contribuyendo a mejorar el diagnóstico, tratamiento, pronóstico o prevención de las enfermedades que afectan al ser humano.

La Investigación Traslacional, al incorporar aspectos de ciencia básica e investigación clínica, no se puede llevar a cabo exclusivamente en los Departamentos Básicos de la Universidad u otros centros de investigación, donde la investigación clínica no puede desarrollarse completamente por carecer de centros hospitalarios. Entidades como el Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria - Fundación Jiménez Díaz (IIS-FJD), donde se combinan ambos tipos de investigación junto con un alto nivel asistencial, son las instituciones ideales para realizar este tipo de investigación.

Esta Quinta Reunión Internacional sobre Investigación Traslacional y Medicina Individualizada será un encuentro de profesionales de diversas Especialidades Médicas y Científicas. Se presentarán los avances clínicos, fruto de innovadoras y complejas líneas de investigación, que destacan por su contribución al desarrollo de la Medicina Individualizada y Global.

The real application of the latest and revolutionary knowledge on molecular biology in clinical practice must be understood as a new way of doing research which has been named Translational. Its objective is to move the new findings from the laboratory to the bedside to improve diagnosis, treatment, prognosis and prevention of human diseases.

Translational Research combines basic science and clinical research. Therefore, it cannot be carried out exclusively in the Basic Research Departments of the University and others, where clinical research cannot be completely developed due to the lack of hospital centers. Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria - Fundación Jiménez Díaz (IIS-FJD), where both types of research are well established together with a high welfare level, is the perfect place to develop this kind of research.

This 5th International Meeting on Translational Research and Individualized Medicine will be a gathering of Professionals of diverse Medical and Scientific Specialties. Clinical advances will be presented, resulting from innovative and complex lines of investigation which stand out by their contribution to the development of the Individualized and Global Medicine.
